"Ramblings of a formerly drug addicted Christian"
Two paths diverged in a wood and I hopped back and forth between the two. Mother said, choices for dinner – take it or leave it, I love you, you’re too fat to wear red. But memories are sketchy – guess I toked ‘em away. I know Grandma loved me, and Jesus too. She told me how he died for my sins, told me he was crucified – an awful word people don't like to use. She said he healed the blind, the lame, and the lepers. He even fed 5,000 people (and that’s just counting the men) with one small boy’s lunch. I remember the guitars and voices joined at Christmas. Daddy sang bass, mama sang tenor. Didn’t have a little brother, but I joined right in there. Sang with the adults and held my own. You have a beautiful voice. Listen to her sing. Sing that song for Grandpa, you know the one, tell me ‘bout the good old days. He loved me too. I remember his smile. But the boy called me a prude. I proved him wrong. Philosophy is the talk on a cereal box. You’re a slut. Religion is a smile on a dog. She’s a slut, but she can sing. Dream weaver. Lyrics scroll by, soundtrack of my life? I believe you can get me through the night. Nigger lover. The love of God is color blind. Whore. Pink is the love you discover. It’s not working out, but you can stay and train your replacement. Let it all bleed out. The best place to do acid is in a laundromat. I think it’s that girl. You’re a bitch. And I think she’s pieces of me you’ve never seen. I swear you’re part plant. I’m a midnight toker. Do you need to have every light in the house on? Got an angry snatch, girls, ya know what I mean, when swivelin’ a hip doesn’t do the trick. Suck my dick. I wanna rub up against it til I break the skin. How many licks does it take? Jesus loves you. I love you. Think of me as programmable soda. You’re beautiful. Too much cherry, isn’t that something. You’re sexy. Feeling radical in cotton, purified in my satin. You’re the love of my life. Ooh, you make me live. I love you too. I've had the time of my life. © 2008 Lisa England
